As promised, here are some pics from the show last night: Death From Above 1979 at the Nanci Raygun in Richmond, VA. The venue was actually pretty sweet. A bar filled with graphitti located close to Virginia Commonwealth University. The show itself was a Vice Magazine Showcase featuring NY hipsters the Panthers and retro-rockers Vietnam. Vietnam came on first. Alright vibe for ten minutes and afterwards it just got annoying when they were rocking away. Panthers came on last. I suppose they put on a good show, but I honestly couldn't follow the songs. I suppose if I had longer hair and wore my sport jacket, I would have got it, but alas, such is not the case.

So in between those two duds, DFA79 played for something like 30 minutes. Two guys, Sabestian on drums and vocals, Jesse on bass and synth. My goodness, did they ever rock. They played just about every track from their album, plus a couple cuts from an earlier EP (I'm guessing). All at about 10 bpm faster than originally recorded. Jesse's got the bass shredding and Sabestian was really wailling. I was surprised how good his voice was, after playing show after basically scream-singing. That man is pure sex. I'm surprised he wasn't dry humped when he got on the floor during "Romantic Rights."

and like most of these outings. I spent a little while in a Waffle House, this time in Charleston. Check out that weird old guy. He kept on looking around like someone was watching him.
